Dog Walk in Park Features Demos, Games, Information, Free Prizes
April 30 Event To Draw Dog-Owners to Womble Park

Calling all dog owners! The annual Dog Walk in the Park will be held Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. - noon in Womble Park. Complete with contests, games, demonstrations and free prizes, the event is a favorite with local dog owners.

In addition to socializing with other dogs, the day's ongoing events include dunking for dog toys, a doggie bag treasure hunt, an obstacle course for dogs open to the public and a paw-print craft. Displays with information and free prizes from veterinarians, groomers, trainers and rescue shelters will be on-hand.

Scheduled activities include a group dog walk at 10 a.m., a demonstration by Sylvie's K-9 Solutions at 10:30 a.m., and flyball demonstrations at 11 and 11:30 a.m. At 11:15 a.m., dogs can compete in contests sponsored by Best Paw Forward Dog Education. Contests include best trick, best bark and longest down/stay with distractions. A blessing of the animals will be given at noon and will be followed by door prize giveaways and raffle drawings.

Throughout the event, donations of pet food, treats, towels, toys and other supplies will be collected for a local pet rescue.
