Dog Owners Asked to Abide by Leash Law 12/12/06 Holly Springs police are reminding pet owners about the leash law after receiving complaints of dogs behaving aggressively toward people out walking. Town ordinances prohibit dogs and cats from running or roaming at large. The law requires that dogs and cats be on a leash or in a pen. This means that the owner or person taking care of an animal must restrain or maintain control of the pet when off their property. If you experience problems with an aggressive animal, please contact the Town's emergency communications center at (919) 557-9111. Animal control officers will investigate. Stray animals will be taken into custody for public safety reasons. Any animal taken into custody will be delivered to the Wake County Animal Control Shelter at 820 Beacon Drive in Raleigh. The phone number is (919) 250-1475. Animals may be reclaimed within five shelter business days after payment of fees.
