Groundbreaking Set for Holly Springs Library & Cultural Center 11/01/05 A ceremony marking the start of construction on the Holly Springs Library & Cultural Center will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at 4 p.m. on West Ballentine Street, a block from Town Hall. The 20,000 square foot building will include a glass facade lobby with the county branch library on one side and the Town cultural center on the other. Completion is expected in late 2006. Site preparation is under way. "This is just another example of offering our citizens opportunities for high quality of life," said Mayor Dick Sears. The project connecting a county library and Town cultural center is the first of its kind in Wake County. People in Holly Springs have been trying to lure a county library for years. The library will be the 11th branch in the Wake County system. A cultural center has ranked high on the list of facilities that citizens have said they would like the Town to provide. The center will have four classrooms plus a multi-purpose room that seats 200. Uses of the cultural center may include theatrical productions, art classes, exhibitions, lectures, receptions, programs for seniors, and more. Wake County will retain ownership of the property and will execute a 99-year lease with Holly Springs for the cultural center portion of the facility. Contact Jenny Mizelle
