Holly Springs Officials Join Wake County Leaders on Trip to Learn about Growth and Develop Contacts

Three Holly Springs Town officials – Mayor Dick Sears and Councilmen Earnie Pearson and Chet VanFossen – are joining Wake County government and private-sector leaders on a three-day trip to Boston in an effort to learn more about how the city is handling its growth and cooperating with its surrounding communities on a regional level. Holly Springs officials also hope to develop economic development contacts with the county's movers and shakers.

The trip is part of an annual event organized by the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. Holly Springs has participated in the event for more than a decade by sending at least one representative each year.

Other Wake government leaders attending the trip include commissioners from Wake County and county municipalities, Wake County Public School System Superintendent Bill McNeal, the Raleigh mayor and town manager, and others. Private sector attendees include representatives from the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Wake hospital officials, Progress Energy administrators and others.

The Holly Springs trio departed on the trip Thursday, April 21. The cost per attendee is approximately $2,000.

After returning, Holly Springs officials plan to give an overview of the trip at an upcoming Town Council meeting, sharing what they learned and gained from the experience.
