November Ballot Features Candidates for Council, Mayor

Registered voters will go to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 8 to select members of the Holly Springs Town Council, and some residents will vote for the first time in a new polling place.

Roughly half of the voters whose usual polling place is Holly Springs Elementary School or the W.E. Hunt Community Center have been assigned to new polling places.  Residents voting at HSES and living east of Sunset Lake Road will be assigned to Triangle Community Church on Kildaire Farm Road. Those living west of Sunset Lake Road still will vote at HSES.  Residents voting at the W.E. Hunt Community Center and living east of Bass Lake Road are assigned to Holly Ridge Middle School. Those living west of Bass Lake Road should report as usual to the Hunt Center to vote.

Precinct 06-01, where the polling place is Holly Springs Town Hall, is unchanged.

Before the election, the Wake County Board of Elections will notify all registered voters of their correct precinct numbers and polling places.  If you are not registered to vote, or if your voter registration is not up to date, you must provide information to the Board of Elections on or before Oct. 14 to be eligible to vote in the November municipal election.

Voter registration forms, which also can be used to update information, are available at Holly Springs Town Hall.

Holly Springs candidates for council are current seat holders Chet VanFossen and Hank Dickson and three residents who are seeking a first term:  Vinnie DeBenedetto, Jeff Leroy and Dawn Parker.  Mayor Dick Sears is unopposed.  Councilman Ernie Pearson did not choose to seek an elected term.

Elections in Holly Springs are non-partisan, and officials are elected by popular at-large vote.  Those elected will be sworn into office at the council's regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6.
