3/22/04 Holly Springs Joins US Club Soccer, To Offer Challenge Play March 15, the Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department was accepted as a member of US Club Soccer, a nonprofit, national organization dedicated to supporting and developing competitive soccer clubs. Because of this membership, the Parks and Recreation Department is offering challenge soccer this fall for boys and girls in the U-10 and U-12 age groups. “Basically, we became members of US Club Soccer to give our players an added opportunity to play at a higher level of soccer, if they desire to do so,” said Len Bradley, director of the Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department. “This organization is relatively new to this area; however, many organizations are joining such as CASL, Triangle Soccer and others,” Bradley said. “ US Club Soccer is interested in the kids playing soccer and not in the political stronghold that other organizations may be looking for.” Holly Springs plans to organize multiple challenge soccer teams this fall to play competitively against each other on local fields and against other regional challenge soccer teams in tournaments. Registration for challenge soccer begins Monday, May 3, and lasts through Friday, May 21. Tryouts for the U-10 boys and girls teams will be held on Monday, May 24, and Tuesday, May 25, at 6 p.m. Tryouts for the U-12 boys and girls teams will be held on Wednesday, May 26, and Thursday, May 27, at 6 p.m. Tryouts will be held at Womble Park. For more information, call Bradley at 557-3934.
