Town Activates New Website
Website Improves Site Navigation, Includes Search Engine, Features Bass Lake Park

In an effort primarily to improve navigation between web pages, the Town of Holly Springs activated a new website – www.hollyspringsnc.us. The website was activated June 28. While the website contains much of the same content of the original Town website, the navigation and the look of the site are new. And, the website includes a search engine.

The Town website now includes a navigational bar that contains buttons with dropdown menus. These menus allow website users to navigate to specific sections of the site, reducing the number of clicks users make to reach particular information.

Part of the redesign also includes a search engine. Website users now are able to type in a subject, keyword or phrase in a search engine box on the website. After clicking the “Go” button or hitting the enter key, the search engine pulls up a list of links to all the pages on the website that contain the word or phrase entered.

The look and feel of the website are also updated. The background image across the top of each page displays the water and retreat center at Bass Lake Park, to open in July, 2004.

“While much of the actual content of the website remains the same, the navigation to that content is greatly simplified with the redesign,” said Tamara Ward, public information officer with the Town. “In addition to dropdown menus, the search engine will enable website users to reach the information they need with a minimal amount of clicks.”

The address to the former Town website will automatically redirect website users to the new Town website address. So, website users with the original address bookmarked will still reach the Town’s new website without a hitch.
