Town Hall Closed for Christmas Holiday and New Year's Eve
Garbage and Recycling Not Affected by Holiday

Holly Springs Town Hall administration offices will be closed for the Christmas holiday Friday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 27. Town Hall also will be closed New Year’s Eve, Friday, Dec. 31. Garbage and recycling collection schedules will not be affected by the holiday. However, there will be no yard waste, bulky items or leaf collection on the holidays; these services will resume the following weeks.

Curbside Christmas tree collection begins Dec. 28 and runs through January. Place discarded Christmas trees and/or foliage wreaths at the edge of your front yard off the street pavement. All tinsel, nails, screws, wires, ribbons and other non-foliage material must be removed from the tree or wreath for pickup. In January, the Holly Springs Department of Public Works will grind the Christmas trees into mulch, which will be distributed free of charge to residents. Residents can pick up the free mulch in the Holly Springs Business Park beginning in mid-January. Additional information about the free mulch, including the date the mulch will be available, will be advertised in early January.

Residents are encouraged to recycle their holiday waste, including cardboard, Christmas trees, chip board, holiday cards, magazines and catalogs, and wrapping paper. The Holiday Wrap-Up Recycling Program is spearheaded by Wake County Solid Waste Management and runs from Dec. 26 through Jan. 9. During this time, residents can drop off holiday waste at the Wake County convenience center at 6000 Old Smithfield Road in Apex.

Throughout this year’s holiday season and into the new year, the Town also will be collecting leaf litter. The service runs continuously, weather permitting, with crews circulating through Town, one subdivision at a time, and then starting again. Leaves should be raked to the edge of the curb in your front yard, off the street pavement. Do not bag yard waste; the Town does not accept plastic or paper bags. Please be patient as the Town leaf collector travels through town. Depending on the weather and how frequently the leaf collector needs repairs, more than a week may pass between visits to your subdivision.
