Kickoff to Baseball/Softball Season to be Held May 1
Ceremony Includes Ribbon Cutting to New Multi-Story Concession Stand/Press Box Building

Baseball/Softball season is opening with a bang this year. In addition to the annual water balloon tosses, relay races and coaches’ softball games, Town officials will be on hand to cut the ribbon to the new multi-story concession stand/press box building.

The ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, at the Womble Park baseball complex. Holly Springs Mayor Dick Sears, Town Manager Carl Dean and Chamber of Commerce representatives will give opening remarks and cut the ribbon. Afterward, the national anthem will be sung, the first pitch will be thrown, and the festivities will begin.

From 6:15-7 p.m., relay races and water balloon tosses will be held as teams participate in some pre-season competition. Four players from each team in the age 5-6 division will participate in a water balloon toss. Players from divisions with ages 7-12 will participate in the relay races. In addition, concessions will be sold and a pitching radar booth will be available for $1 per pitch.

At 7 p.m., the coaches’ softball games begin with tee-ball division coaches playing against coach-pitch division coaches, and the age 9-10 division coaches playing against softball coaches. Coaches will bat with their opposite hands and run the bases in opposite order. Games will conclude at 8:15 p.m.
