Public Utilities
Public Utilities Department
The Public Utilities Department has a wide range of responsibilities, including wastewater and reclamation system operations, industrial pretreatment, FOG (fats, oils, and grease) program management, and an environmental compliance laboratory.
The wastewater treatment plant has the capacity to treat 6.0 million gallons of waste per day and provides service for over 25,000 residents. The Department also operates it's water reclamation system to provide an alternative water resource for demands not requiring potable water quality.
Annual Change in Water Disinfection
Utility customers may smell and taste chlorine more during March because of an annual temporary switchover in drinking water treatment methods. The water remains safe to drink.
