Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting

The Holly Springs Town Board of Commissioners was to meet in regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000 in the Town Board meeting chambers, located in Town Hall, 128 S. Main St. The meeting was scheduled to be called to order at 7:30 p.m.; however, icy road conditions on the afternoon of Jan. 18 prompted Mayor Gerald W. Holleman, with the concurrence of board members, to cancel the meeting. A quorum was not established, and the meeting was not held.

Later in the week, Mayor Holleman and Mayor Pro Tem Hank Dickson agreed that all items on the Jan. 18, 2000 agenda were to be placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting, which was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000.

Notice of the meeting cancellation was provided and broadcast on television news coverage of area closings and cancellations. Additionally, notices were posted on the entrance doors of Town Hall and email notices were sent to those on the Town Clerk’s agenda / minutes list.

Support staff, the Town Attorney, and those having business before the board for the evening were contacted by phone and advised of the cancellation, as were known citizens who regularly attend board meetings.
