MINUTES/RECORD

 

 

A quorum of the Holly Springs Town Board of Commissioners was present at Holly Springs Town Hall, 128 S. Main St. on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000.  A meeting was not convened; however, a quorum of board members were present as the Town initiated a state-ordered boil water notice to residents.

 

Board Members Present:  Commissioners Tim Sack, John Schifano, Parrish Womble, and Peter Atwell and Mayor Holleman.

 

Board Members Absent: Commissioner Hank Dickson.

 

Staff Members Present: Stephanie Sudano, director of engineering; Derek Baker, Phyllis Fleming, Rodney Campbell and David Summers of the engineering department; Chief of Public Safety Cecil Parker; Joni Powell, town clerk; Lois Ragsdale-Houck, the town manager’s executive assistant; Jennifer Carrr, director of economic development; Thomas Tillage, director of the water quality department; Barb Koblich of the finance office; and members of the public works, water quality and public safety departments.

 

A full report of the evening’s activities and follow-up courses of action will be prepared and presented during the Board of Commissioners regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.  The report will be incorporated, by reference, in the minutes of the Sept. 19 board meeting.

 

In summary, the State Division of Environment and Natural Resources ordered the Town of Holly Springs to issue a boil water notice to all users of the public water supply in Holly Springs following results of routine water sample tests.  Commissioners and staff worked together during the evening to issue the notice to all residents by means of the media, Wake County Emergency Management auto-dial telephone system; posted signs and telephone calls.

 

No action was taken by the Board during this event.  No deliberation was conducted, other than discussion of the public notice logistics.
