1. How do I get a replacement trash cart or recycle bin?

You will need to call Public Works at (919) 552-5920. Public Works will contact Waste Industries on behalf of the resident at (919) 662-7100, and Waste Industries will put in a work order for their container to be repaired or replaced.

2. I am a new resident to the Town of Holly Springs - how do I get rid of my moving boxes?

The Town will only pick up a maximum of seven boxes at no charge for residents. You must break down all boxes; place the boxes curbside the night before your scheduled pick-up. All packing materials need to be placed in your trash cart.

3. If I want to do some work in my yard and do not know where my utility services are located, how do I go about getting someone to locate my utilities?

You can call the North Carolina One-Call Center at (800) 632-4949 or 811 and they will take all your information and put it into their system, which then sends out tickets to all of the member utility companies. The Town of Holly Springs is a member of this organization; therefore we would get a ticket and locate Town-maintained utilities within 48 hours.

4. There is a huge pothole in the road that I want to report so that it can get fixed. Whom do I call?

There are some roads within the Town of Holly Springs that are state maintained roads (see list below) and you will need to call the North Carolina Department of Transportation at 733-4768. Otherwise you may call the Public Works Department at (919) 552-5920 and we will generate a service order and pass it on to our street department.

5. What can and cannot be thrown in my trash cart?

Only household trash, preferably bagged should be placed in the trash cart. Bagging helps keep your cart clean and reduces wind blown litter. Do not place yard waste, brush, or any construction debris in your cart. Automotive parts, tires, hazardous waste, hot ashes, and corrugated cardboard are also prohibited. You should continue to place recyclables in the labeled recycle bin for collection.

6. What do I do with corrugated cardboard?

Break down into 2x3-foot sections and place under your recycle bin the day of your trash pickup. You can also take the boxes flattened to the Wake County Convenience Center located at 6000 Old Smithfield Road.

7. What do I do with items that cannot be thrown in my trash cart?

Yard waste and brush is collected curbside weekly. Construction debris and large items can be taken to the Wake County Convenience Center located at 6000 Old Smithfield Road. Tires and hazardous waste can be taken to the South Wake multi-material drop off center located next to the Convenience Center. Hazardous waste can be dropped off Monday through Saturday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

8. Will Waste Industries pick up extra bags outside of my rolling trash container or extra recyclables outside of my recycling bin / cart?

As a courtesy, Waste Industries' drivers may occasionally pick up extra bags of trash or extra recycling placed at the curb, depending on truck space availability. However, consistent or excessive quantities of solid waste will make it necessary for you to contact our Finance Department to request for additional containers or to arrange a special pick-up fee directly through Waste Industries at( 919) 662-7100.

When you have an overflow of household trash or recycling, a popular alternative would be utilizing the Wake County Convenience Center located at 6000 Old Smithfield Road. That facility is usually open daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
