The population growth Holly Springs is experiencing brings with it fast-paced development. In response, the Town’s attention has turned to the quality and character of development in order to ensure that the new development and redevelopment improves Holly Springs’ appearance and livability instead of detracting from them.

More emphasis is being placed on creating a downtown where people can live, work and be entertained.

The Village District Area Plan for the downtown area was amended in 2008.

Public schools in Holly Springs are part of the Wake County Public School System.

parks & recreation

Bass Lake Retreat Center from the waterThe Town's Parks and Recreation program was established in 1996 when a $2 million Parks and Recreation bond referendum passed. The Town hired full time staff and purchased an abandoned school from the Wake County School System.

Today, Holly Springs Parks and Recreation offers a full range of programs, including athletics for children and adults, youth summer camps and after-school programs, and activities for seniors.

Holly Springs Cultural Center hosts concerts, theater and other special events. The center adjoins a county branch library.

Bass Lake Park & Retreat Center features a visitor’s and environmental education center, conference room, large deck, floating dock, fishing, hiking trail and a wildlife observation platform.

The Wake County area ranks among the top metropolitan areas in physicians per capita with a ratio five times the national average.

Three major medical centers and teaching hospitals are in the region, along with multiple hospitals.

Rex Healthcare received state approval in 2008 to build a 9,000 square foot outpatient facility in Holly Springs.

Novant Health has filed for state approval to build a full-service community hospital in Holly Springs.

The HollyFest celebration on the last Saturday of August is the town's largest celebration, drawing thousands to Womble Park for music, food, arts and crafts, games and much more.

The Happy Holly Days Christmas Parade is a Holly Springs tradition on the second Saturday of December along Main Street. The Main Street Christmas celebration on the evening before the parade culminates in a tree lighting ceremony at Holly Springs Cultural Center.
