Holly Springs ETJ Expansion

Overview

Wake County commissioners voted in November 2005 to give Holly Springs authority for zoning and building regulations in an area largely southwest of Town limits. See a map.

Commissioners occasionally grant this authority (called extra-territorial jurisdiction, or ETJ) to allow towns to plan for utilities, transportation improvements and other services.

The ETJ area remains outside Town limits and property owners there do not pay Town taxes. Although they do not participate in Holly Springs elections, residents of the ETJ are represented on the Town's Planning Board and its Board of Adjustment.

Public Hearing on ETJ Zoning Map

The Town Council hold a public hearing on zoning map designations for the extended ETJ during its regularly-scheduled meeting at Town Hall.
