Tennis

Holly Springs Parks and Recreation offers tennis instructional sessions for children and adults through Dean Ness, former U.S.P.T.A. club professional and coach. Sessions are at Holly Springs High School.

Youth ProgramTennis coach and young players

QuickStart Tennis (Ages 5-7)           Course # 7530
Eight week session focusing on skills that are the basis of tennis such as hand-eye coordination, footwork and racquet control in a fun environment that includes plenty of games and take home tennis. 
Resident: $80
Non-resident: $120

QuickStart Tennis (Ages 7-10)         Course # 7532
Eight week session focusing on fun and group drills & instruction for players wishing to advance to novice competition or recreational play. Players develop skills through interactive drills, instruction and practice competition. Perfect for the player who has had some instruction but wants to further develop skills in a fun group environment.  
Resident: $80
Non-resident: $120

Tennis: Youth Drills & Instruction (Ages 11-14)               Course # 7534
Eight week session that includes instruction on forehand, backhand, ground strokes, serve, serve
return, shot combinations and strategy. Designed for new players or those who have not played for a while (regulation court and balls are used). Good prep for players wishing to advance to USTA novice Junior Team Tennis.
Resident: $80
Non-resident: $120

Youth Practice Matches (Ages 9-14)                                   Course  # 7535
Eight week course for those who have had instruction but need more challenge. Players will have interactive drills and practice competition with the Junior Team.  Players should be able to keep score, serve and hit a few ground strokes at a slow pace.
Residents: $80
Non-residents: $120

  • Mon., Aug. 23 - Oct. 18, 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Junior Tennis Team (Ages 9-14)
Program includes a one-hour team practice and a weekly match. The purpose is to give novice tennis players the opportunity to enjoy and learn the game through regular practice and team participation. The team plays other club teams in the Western Wake area. Home matches are played at Holly Springs High School.  Players may be divided by skill level.
