Hunt Center seen from the frontHunt Community Center is in the heart of Holly Springs, next to Womble Park. The Town purchased the former elementary school in 1996. It has fitness classes, arts & crafts classes, after-school programs and more. Classrooms and the gymnasium can be rented. See amenities and fees.

The fitness room has stationary bikes, treadmills and elliptical machines for burning fat and increasing aerobic endurance. Resistance machines for every major muscle group build and tone muscle. Mats, balance balls and free weights are available. The center offers monthly and yearly passes.

Fitness room hours are 5:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday. For more information on the Hunt Center, call (919) 557-9600.

This 24-acre tract is next to Holly Springs Elementary School. Plans call for the land to become an environmental and educational park to complement the school and neighborhood with a playground and athletics facilities.

The Town has completed a master plan for the park. Through partnerships with the Wake County Public School System and Wake County, the development of the park has begun. See amenities and rental fees.


Veterans Park

Veterans Park monument and flagsThe Town obtained ownership of the property in February 2007. The park includes a 4.3-acre pond. Veterans Park has a picnic shelter, a playground, fitness stations and half-mile paved trail extending around the pond.

Veterans Park is dedicated to the men and women who have served our country in the military. The park features a liberty elm donated by the Elm Research Institute of Keene, N.H. as an enduring symbol of freedom.

The Town purchased this 46-acre site in 1997. The park is in the second phase of the construction process. Facilities currently include four lighted baseball / softball fields, a multi-purpose field, soccer fields, horseshoes pits, a volleyball court and a multi-purpose playground. Restrooms, a concession area and a scorer's tower are also on the park grounds. A picnic shelter and an outdoor stage hosts a variety of cultural and musical events throughout the year.


Facility Rental

The public may reserve Parks & Recreation facilities for various uses depending on the facility. The Parks & Recreation director has discretion over the uses allowed. All facilities have a reservation fee based on hourly or daily rates when reservations are required for any organized activity. At other times, facilities are open to the public at no charge except for the community center. Call (919) 557-9600 for more information. No refunds on facility rentals.


Parks and Facilities Maintenance

The Parks & Recreation Department maintenance staff is responsible for maintaining the parks, athletic fields, community center, Town cemetery and landscaping at Town Hall. The maintenance staff also provides support during the Town's special events. The director of Parks & Recreation works with the Planning and Engineering departments to evaluate site plans for development aesthetics along Town streets.
