Operator I
Water Quality Department

This position will be responsible for operational and maintenance functions at the wastewater treatment plant.  Duties will include monitoring the plant’s operations and making adjustments; performing general preventive and scheduled maintenance; touring the plant and equipment for proper functioning; recordkeeping; regulating and adjusting monitors, pumps, blowers, valves and other related duties as assigned.  Position requires graduation from high school and experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment, preferably in a wastewater treatment plant, and possession of a Grade I wastewater treatment certification (or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire) and possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Normal hiring range $29,316 – $32,000 based on experience.  Open until filled.

Technical Production Manager
(Parks & Recreation Department (Cultural Center)

Position supervises backstage operations for the Holly Springs Cultural Center, managing technical and production aspects of approximately 200 events per year.  Position will be responsible for overseeing theatres, guest artists, and crews in a safe manner; analyzing and negotiating technical requirements for professional touring companies; designing and executing lighting design for professional concert artists; developing and planning lighting composition; creating original designs for stage sets; recommending annual capital equipment purchases and repair and maintain work for theatre facilities; and supervising student crews.  Position will work approximately 20 + hours per week including evenings and weekends.  Pay rate is $15.00/hr.  Please submit a Town employment application for consideration.

Assistant Audio Technician
Parks & Recreation Department (Cultural Center)

Position will assist the Holly Springs Cultural Center in providing quality sound system support throughout the entire facility with an emphasis on the needs of live sound for touring music and theatrical groups.  Primary duties include operating the theatre sound system and portable sound system used at remote Town events; assisting in developing good organization of equipment; assisting in planning for system upgrade and enhancements; assisting in the operation of the front of house and monitoring the sound system; and helping maintain proper supplies.  Position requires knowledge of the various type, use and placement techniques for microphones; knowledge and ability to interconnect professional sound equipment; knowledge in the use of mixers, equalizers, compressors, power amplifiers and other professional sound equipment; ability to troubleshoot sound system malfunctions; and ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.  Position will work approximately 10-15 hours per week including evenings and weekends.  Hourly rate of $7.50/hr.  Please submit a Town employment application for consideration.  Open until filled.

After School Counselor

The Town is seeking caring and enthusiastic individuals to work as counselors in the after school program supervising children ages 5-13, planning and leading activities, monitoring and participating in activities, and setting up and cleaning up for the day.  Applicants must be flexible and able to work from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, early release days and teacher workdays.  Prefer applicants with previous experience with children and CPR/First Aid certifications and at least 18 years of age. Nature Program Assistant

The department is seeking energetic and creative individuals to assist with planning and leading summer camp activities, develop group programs, and promote and organize special events at Bass Lake Park. Position will also assist with facility rentals, park maintenance and operation of the visitor center.  Work hours will vary depending on availability, although some evening and weekend work will be required. Summer Work Crew Assistant Supervisor
Parks & Recreation Department (Bass Lake Park)

Position will assist with supervising the youth work crews (ages 14-16) and assist with planning and implementation of work projects in the park and other locations as designated with direction from the park manager and summer work crew supervisor. Must be willing to work outside and able to lift 50 lbs.  Hours are varied between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday with longer days on Friday for educational activities.   Must be at least 20 years old with valid driver’s license.  Prefer applicants with a background in environmental education, environmental science, parks and recreation, natural resources or related field.   Must be willing to commit to entire summer work crew session starting June 14 and ending Aug. 6, 2010.  Hourly rate is $8.50. Bass Lake Park Assistant - Seasonal

Position is responsible for checking rental groups into and out of facilities, setup and tear down for rentals, cleaning restrooms and park facilities, trash removal in park, assisting visitors with fishing, canoe and boat rentals, and assisting with park projects and maintenance as assigned.  Prefer applicants at least 18 years old with a pleasant attitude, good customer service skills, independent, organized and reliable.  Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors in a park setting.  Position requires employee to be able to lift 50 lbs.  Must be available day, evening, holidays and rotating weekends.  Hours will vary due to demand.  Requires a valid N.C. driver’s license.  Position is seasonal from March 1 through Nov. 1, 2010.  Hourly rate of $7.25 - $8.00 depending on experience.  Applicants must complete Town of Holly Springs employment application and submit to Human Resources.

Nature Summer Camp Counselor
Parks & Recreation (Bass Lake Park)

Position will be responsible for assisting with planning and implementation of eight weeks of summer day camp for 8-10 year-olds and 11-13 year-olds with direction from the park manager, park naturalist and lead counselor. Requires commitment for eight weeks of camp June 14 - Aug. 6, 2010.  Must relate well and enjoy working with youth.  Must like canoeing, boating, fishing, crafts, nature studies, hiking, being outside, and playing games.  Work hours are staggered between 7:30 a.m. - -5:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.  There will be occasional time before 7:30 a.m. or after 5:30 p.m. on the days activities are off site.  Prefer college student or school age teacher with background in environmental education, environmental science, parks and recreation, natural resources, or related field.  Must be at least 18 years old and have valid driver’s license.  Hourly rate $8.00 - $9.00 depending experience. Seeking camp counselor volunteer(s) to assist with supervision of children and participate in summer camp activities.  Volunteers will work the week of camp for 8-10 year-olds.  Must relate well and enjoy working with youth.  May choose to work morning or afternoon or both.  Must like canoeing, boating, fishing, crafts, nature studies, hiking, being outside and playing games.  Position will take direction from the lead summer camp counselor.  Position may allow progression to paid camp counselor in the future.  Prefer applicants at least 16 years old.  Complete a Town employment application for consideration.
