GROUP HEALTH AND HOSPITALIZATION COVERAGE
The Town provides group health and hospitalization insurance for regular full-time employees. Employees may purchase dependent coverage through the Town's group health plan, but the employee assumes the majority of the cost for dependent coverage.

DENTAL COVERAGE
The Town provides dental coverage for regular full-time employees. Dependent coverage is available but the employee assumes the entire cost for dependent coverage.

LIFE INSURANCE
The Town provides a group life insurance policy through UNUM equal to two times salary to all regular full-time employees. In addition, after completing one year of employment, a death benefit is provided through the N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System. The payment equals the highest 12 months of salary in a row during the 24 months prior to death, but no less than $25,000 and no more than $50,000. Also, employees may purchase supplemental life insurance coverage for self or family through UNUM.

SHORT TERM DISABILITY
The Town pays for employee coverage through UNUM. The short term disability plan applies to injuries and illness which occur outside the workplace. Benefits begin after a 30-day elimination period with a maximum payment period of 22 weeks.

LONG TERM DISABILITY
The Town pays for employee coverage. Benefits begin after short term disability is exhausted. Claims are reviewed by UNUM on a regular basis.

RETIREMENT
Each regular full-time employee is required to join the N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System as a condition of employment starting the first day of employment. A six percent (6 percent) employee contribution is deducted from pay for the retirement plan. 401K RETIREMENT
The Town contributes 5 percent towards the N.C. Supplemental Retirement Plan. Employees are immediately vested in the plan. Employees may elect to make voluntary contributions to this plan by payroll deduction.

HOLIDAYS
Employees receive eleven or twelve paid holidays per year depending on when Christmas falls. In order to receive a paid holiday, an employee must have worked the day before and the day after the holiday(s), or have been given approved leave.
VACATION
Paid vacation is granted to all regular employees. Employees can accumulate vacation leave without any applicable maximum until Dec. 31 of each year. At that time, any hours over 240 are converted to sick leave. The vacation earning rate for full-time employees is as follows:

SICK LEAVE
Town employees accrue 12 paid sick leave days per year. There is no limit on the number of days accumulated.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Town of Holly Springs provides employees and family members with free, confidential short-term counseling to help resolve problems (marital, family, financial, legal, alcohol and more) that may impact their work or personal lives. The EAP provides 24-hour phone assistance and is available for appointments at your convenience.

LONGEVITY PAY
The Town offers longevity pay to recognize and reward the total years of service as a regular employee. Longevity pay is a lump sum payment given once a year based on the employee’s date of hire in full-time position.
TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Tuition assistance is available to those employees who have completed the initial probationary period and wish to further their education and training. Employees may receive financial reimbursement up to $500 per fiscal year for courses taken on their own time which will improve their skills for their current job or prepare them for promotional opportunities with the Town.
VOLUNTARY VISION PLAN
The Town provides a voluntary vision plan through EyeMed. Employees can cover family members on the plan. The plan offers discounted vision care services as well as hardware benefits for contacts or glasses through a provider network. http://portal.eyemedvisioncare.com
WORKERS COMPENSATION
All Town employees (full-time and part-time) are covered under the N.C. Worker's Compensation Act which covers employees who suffer injuries as a result of an accident while performing duties. Responsibility for claiming compensation under the Workers Compensation Act is on the injured employee.
CREDIT UNION
All employees have the option of joining the N.C. Local Government Employees' Credit Union. In order to retain membership in the Credit Union, employees must have a minimum of $25 on deposit.

DIRECT DEPOSIT
The Town requires direct deposit for all employees. This benefit has the Town send your pay directly to your checking or savings account rather than issuing a paper check so you do not have to go to the bank with a paper check. Employees are paid bi-weekly on Friday (exception for some holidays).
