Town Capital Projects
Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) Project No.: 10-022
Location: Town wide
Expected Completion Date: Spring 2011
Description: Update of the Town’s Transportation Plan with public input, resulting in a multi-model (road, bike, ped, transit) long range transportation master plan that complements the town’s Comprehensive Growth Plan.
Status: First public meeting to occur in September 2010
Schedule: to be completed in Spring 2011
Holly Springs Methodist Church Parking Lot Project No.: 07-009
Location: Downtown Holly Springs next to Methodist Church
Expected Completion Date: Spring 2010; Landscaping Fall 2011
Description: Construct a new shared parking lot across from Town Hall
Status: Construction is completed, with landscaping to be done this fall

Bass Lake Sidewalk Project No.: 05-013
Location: Bass Lake Road from Earp Street to Bass Lake Park
Expected Completion Date: Pending funding
Description: Construct sidewalk along Bass Lake Road from Earp Street to Bass Lake Park
Status: Right-of-way acquisition in process, plus final permitting

Green Oaks Parkway – NC55 Bypass to New Hill Road (4 lane) Project No.: 06-024
Location: Southwest Holly Springs
Expected Completion Date: January 2010
Description: This project will widen an existing two lane roadway to a four lane median-divided parkway from the NC55 Bypass to New Hill Road. The Parkway will provide enhanced access to the Holly Springs Business Park and West Holly Springs. This project will begin construction in 2008 and will be completed in 2010.

Main Street Enhancement Project No.: 04-019
Location: Downtown Holly Springs
Expected Date of Completion: Spring 2010
Description: This project is the result of an NCDOT Enhancement Grant secured by the Town. The project will add on-street parking, sidewalks, pedestrian signage, landscaping, street lighting, and trash receptacles to Main Street.

Main Street South Sidewalk to Bypass Project No.: 08-029
Location: Downtown Holly Springs
Expected Date of Completion: Summer 2011
Description: This project is the result of a CMAQ grant from NCDOT secured by the Town. The project will complete the sidewalk from downtown to the Bypass

Street Resurfacing Project Project No.: 10-017
Location: Various streets in Town, ranked by condition rating
Estimated Date of Completion: Spring 2011
Description: Maintenance repair and resurfacing of existing paved roadways based on priority ranking

Main Street Extension Project No.: 08-035
Location: Extension of Main Street south to beyond bypass
Estimated Date of Completion: 2013
Description: Re-alignment of Piney-Grove Wilbon to Ralph Stephens; Town secured NCDOT STP-DA grant funds for environmental planning documents.
Status: Working with consultant and NCDOT to secure contracts

Phase 3 Community Grant Sidewalk – Raleigh Street Project No.: 08-032
Location: Raleigh Street

Description: New sidewalk connection from Holly Springs Road, Raleigh Street, Earp Street; Parks and Recreation secured grant funds for a portion of this project

Downtown Sidewalk to Womble Park Project No.: 10-014
Location: Downtown to Womble Park

Description: New sidewalk on Raleigh and Grigsby to connect downtown to Womble Park; final route not yet selected; town secured NCDOT grant funds for this project

Reclaimed Water Project Distribution Lines & Elevated Tank Project No.: 05-024
Location: West Holly Springs
Expected Completion Date: Summer 2009 (Tank 2010)
Status: Construction of a new Town utility system – reclaimed water – to meet non-potable water needs in a Reclaimed Water Service Area that includes the Holly Springs Business Park and some nearby developments. Non-potable water uses included irrigation and industrial process water. Town secured grant funds for a portion of this project

Utley WWTP Expansion to 6 mgd Project No.: 04-003
Location: Southwest Holly Springs at existing wastewater treatment plant site
Estimated Date of Completion: 2011
Description: Town of Holly springs is expanding its existing wastewater treatment plant from 2.4 mgd capacity to 6 mgd capacity.
Status: Expansion on-line, final construction in progress 2010
