April 1, 2010 is census day throughout the United States. The Constitution requires this population count every 10 years to determine how many seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Participation is required by law. You will receive your questionnaire in March 2010 by mail or delivered in person. Completion takes only about 10 minutes. Responses are confidential and protected by law.

Households that do not respond may receive a replacement questionnaire in early April. Census takers will visit households that do not return questionnaires to take a count in person.

More Details

A Complete Count - The Importance for Holly Springs

The census helps determine shares of more than $300 billion nationwide in federal funds annually for schools, healthcare, roads, hospitals and other community projects and services.

More than 15 Percent of Holly Springs’ budgeted revenues are state and county sales taxes that are distributed to towns based on their population.

A complete and accurate count will help ensure that Holly Springs gets its fair share of county, state and federal revenues.  The only greater source of revenue for the Town is property taxes.

The 2010 Census data will be used to determine locations for stores, restaurants, schools, hospitals, new developments and other community facilities.

The Complete Count Challenge: Be Counted Holly Springs!

In 2000, only 65 percent of Holly Springs households completed their forms by the April 1 deadline. Let's make it 100 percent in 2010.

Be counted and show retailers and restaurants that we want them in Holly Springs.

Nationally, each 1 percent of forms returned by mail saves the federal government $1 billion in costs associated with follow-up, including additional mailings, census takers, phone calls, etc.
