N.C. Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green is the featured author at this year's book festival. Green will speak about the writing process and responsibility of the poet laureate. A reception will follow Green’s presentation.
Green is a NC Literary Hall of Fame Inductee and 2003 recipient of the North Carolina Award for Literature, the highest award the state can bestow for significant contributions in science, literature, fine arts, and public service. Green is known as one of the most acclaimed poets in the state’s modern-day history. She currently teaches documentary poetry at Duke University Center for Documentary Studies. As community arts advocate, she creates and facilitates programs that serve diverse audiences and populations.
