Avent Ferry Road Widening, NC 55 to Ralph Stephens
Avent Ferry Road Widening, NC 55 to Ralph Stephens Road
This project consists of widening approximately 1,800 linear feet of Avent Ferry Road, completing the widening of Avent Ferry Road from N.C. 55 to Ralph Stephens Road (formerly Piney Grove Wilbon Road). With the widening comes right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation.
The design includes a continuous green T-intersection, which allows vehicles on Avent Ferry Road to travel continuously from N.C. 55 toward Ralph Stephens Road (formerly Piney Grove Wilbon Road) without stopping at the shopping center signal. Vehicles from the shopping center could turn left at the signal into a dedicated travel lane on Avent Ferry Road without disrupting the continuous flow of traffic from N.C. 55. Click here for more information on continuous green T-intersections.
Town staff secured federal grant funding for design, right-of-way acquisition and construction for 80 percent of projected costs.
